In a decade remembered for its major advances in culture, art, and style, somehow Natalie Wood still managed to standout amongst the crowd. Despite her tragic early death, she still managed to leave a plethora of memorable looks. Most of which embodied all the major trends of the iconic decade in fashion that is the 60’s.

Before even getting to her outfits, a moment needs to be taken for her hair and makeup styling. A true master of the 60’s signiture dark, defined makeup looks and structured hairstyles. Natalie was often spotted with dark lashes, thick eyeliner, defined eyebrows, and colorful eye shadow. A bold look that compliments the clothes and is visually exciting to look at. And the hairstyles accomplish the exact same thing. The dramatic side part with the flipped ends was a trademark Natalie hairstyle, but she was also was not afraid to play with curls and updos.

Her adventurous choices did not end with makeup and hair. Her outfits certainly lived up iconic, bold trends of her time. She experimented with different textures and patterns, often pairing a patterned bottom with a simple top or sporting the same pattern head to toe. Never making the outfit too busy, but certainly never making it boring. She also tended to accentuate her silhouette by wearing tailored clothes that cinched at the waist. Another staple of the time period.

Also no stranger to accessorizing, she often doned a statement piece of jewelry or accessory in her looks. She was very well known for her jewelry, often adding either a statement necklace or large hoop earrings to spice up looks. Another reoccurring piece in her collection is the silk scarf. Sometimes used as a head scarf, sometimes a neck scarf, but always adding another layer to her looks. And who could forget, every outfit needs a standout pair of sunglasses to finish off the look.

With such an exceptional sense of personal style, it is no mystery why Natalie Wood emerged as not only a style icon of her time, but one that is still respected to this day. She brought such a uniqueness and sense of youthfulness that set her apart from most of the Hollywood stars who were simply slaves to the trends. She always added her own touch, and has inspired me to do the same. To take risks, have fun, and bo bold.
